LitAgility assisted a high-tech IP law firm representing the plaintiff in settlement discussions by identifying additional infringing products. Faced with a large number of potential patent-product combinations (74 patents and over 100 products), LitAgility efficiently narrowed the focus by categorizing patents and products, and then pinpointed 5 high-potential infringement reads using the BridgeINDEX™ advanced AI. The client confirmed the accuracy of these findings and sought further analysis, demonstrating the value of this targeted approach in strengthening their settlement position.
Client
A reputed West Coast-based IP law firm active in many high-tech IP litigations.
Context
Our client, a plaintiff in a patent infringement dispute, aimed to strengthen their position during settlement discussions. They suspected additional infringing products existed but faced the daunting task of identifying them among a vast number of potential patent-product combinations: 74 patents and over 100 products. They needed LitAgility to pinpoint 3 to 5 high-potential infringement reads, a common challenge in complex patent litigation where sheer volume can overwhelm traditional analysis.
How LitAgility Helped
LitAgility employed a strategic, tech-driven approach. We began by evaluating and categorizing the 74 patents by technology and novelty. Our searchers then identified relevant materials like user manuals and white papers for each product, ensuring a comprehensive understanding. Crucially, we used BridgeINDEX™ advanced AI to map patents against product information. This technology efficiently and accurately identified potential infringement, providing hyperlinked evidence citations for easy review. Ultimately, we identified five high-potential infringement reads, equipping the client with strong evidence for settlement negotiations.
Results/Feedback

The client was delighted with the results and noted the value the exported charts would have in settlement discussions. They were also pleased with the intuitive, side-by-side interface for analyzing evidence by accused product against each claim element. This positive experience led to additional patent-to-product mapping projects and the adoption of BridgeIndex™ and BridgeIP™ to improve the practice group’s pre- and post-filing evidence management and overall client service delivery.
